Lok Sabha adopts resolution on Lokpal Bill

New Delhi: In a major development, Lok Sabha adopted 'Sense of House' on three key issues raised by Anna Hazare by thumping of desks. After debate, Anna Hazare will break his fast at 10 am tomorrow, according to his close associate Kiran Bedi. Bedi tweeted that the 74-year-old activist does not break his fast after sunset. "Anna is known to have never broken his fast after sunset. Recall, he did so even in April fast. This is his decision again. He decides," she tweeted. Later, Bedi told PTI he will break the fast at 10 am tomorrow. If he breaks his fast tomorrow at 10 am, he will complete 288 hours of his hunger strike which began on August 16.

Anna's latest letter to Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi: This is the letter sent by social activist Anna Hazare to Sonia Gandhi about his movement for a new tough law against corruption.

Mr Hazare is on the fourth day of his hunger strike. The government has been negotiating with a team of activists that support the 72-year-old Gandhian's campaign, India Against Corruption.

Crisis: Team Anna accuses Govt of betrayal

New Delhi: Team Anna is not happy with the Government's resolution on Anna Hazare's three demands. Hazare's close associate Prashant Bhushan, who met Government representatives on the resolution to be adopted by Parliament on Saturday, said that it is unfortunate to see the response to what Anna has written to the Government. His father and senior lawyer Shanti Bhushan, who is also a close associate of Hazare, accused the Government of backtracking on the resolution.
Prashant Bhushan said that if the Government is serious about enacting a strong Lokpal then it should move a motion and Parliament should vote on it. He insisted that there should be a formal vote with division in Parliament and not a mere statement of intent.

नई दिल्ली। संसदीय कार्यमंत्री पवन बंसल ने कहा कि इस बहस की लिस्टिंग होना जरूरी है। सरकार की तरफ से अन्ना को इशारा किया गया है कि अगर वो अनशन तोड़ने का ऐलान नहीं करते तब तक लिस्टिंग नहीं हो सकती है। हालात का विश्लेषण करें तो दोनों पक्ष अगर अड़े रहते हैं तो आज संसद में बहस संभव नहीं है।

गौरतलब है कि अन्ना की मांग मानते हुए सरकार ने कहा कि आज संसद में लोकपाल बिल के तीन मसौदों पर चर्चा होगी। इनमें टीम अन्ना के जनलोकपाल बिल के अलावा अरुणा राय और जयप्रकाश नारायण के लोकपाल बिल के मसौदे भी शामिल हैं। संसद में जनलोकपाल बिल पर समर्थन जुटाने के इरादे से बीती रात टीम अन्ना बीजेपी के वरिष्ठ नेता लालकृष्ण आडवाणी के घर पर पहुंची। यहां उनकी मुलाकात आडवाणी समेत बीजेपी के कई बड़े नेताओं से हुई। बैठक के बाद अन्ना के प्रमुख सहयोगी अरविंद केजरीवाल ने कहा कि बीजेपी मोटे तौर पर जनलोकपाल बिल से सहमत है।

Discussion on Lokpal Bill in LS under Rule 184

New Delhi: Going the extra mile to meet Anna Hazare's major demand, government will have a discussion in the Lok Sabha on Friday on various versions of the Lokpal Bill, including the one brought out by Team Anna.
The discussion will be held under Rule 184 which entails voting, sources said on Thursday night.
A motion will be brought to facilitate a combined discussion on the Lokpal Bill, the Jan Lokpal Bill brought out by Anna Hazare as also the drafts prepared by activist Aruna Roy and Jai Prakash Narain, sources said.
